A Little About Me

The good old days of the 5 1/4 inch floppy disk...

My degree program was a general IT degree. However, I have decided to add an emphasis area to the degree to more accurately specialize my learning. The result is my degree program is now a Bachelor in Information Technology with a Web Development emphasis. You can see the changes as they are applied to my Degree Progress page.

I am the proud father of three kids, a nearly six-year-old and twins that are working on 3. And, really, they are one of the biggest reasons I chose to do something better with my life. I wanted to show them that learning (not just revolving around the IT world) does not stop. Education should not try to teach us everything, but it should teach us the tools required to find the solutions to problems... in that we become freer thinkers less likely to automatically believe everything someone tells us.

Especially in IT and technology venues, I really believe the learning never stops. Those who continue to learn will likely do well. For those who choose not to, regardless of age, they will quickly be left behind. In that, IT is truly a great equalizer that does not care about age, gender, or much else.

I expect to graduate by around June of 2011, and I am looking forward to celebrating with other Kaplan students and staff. Hopefully, I will see some of you at the Miami ceremony in winter of 2012.
